A Family’s Heart for Ghana

Earlier this spring, Kristi Schofield and her family traveled to the Touch A Life Care Center in Kumasi with her husband and children. When she returned, Kristi wanted to share this reflection about her visit, and the impact that it made on her entire family.

Last year I traveled to Ghana with a friend who sponsors a child through Touch A Life. The people of Ghana are so loving and wonderful and the children at Touch A Life were no different. A little boy named Collins had just arrived at the Care Center and he immediately stole my heart. I kept up with Collins through the Touch A Life team and later found out I could be his sponsor.

20150307_130717In March of this year, I traveled back to Ghana but this time I took my entire family! It was such an amazing experience – one that we will never forget! As soon as we pulled up at the Care Center, Collins came running to the van and gave us all hugs. It was such a special moment for all of us. While we were there, we played water balloon toss and also took some small water bottles that the children enjoyed playing with. My children loved all the kids at the Care Center and they were all so sad when it was time to go. My children left a big piece of their hearts in Ghana, especially as they think about the lives of the Touch A Life kids before they were rescued.

We thank God for the work He is doing through Touch A Life to make a difference in the lives of children. Don’t ever think that you are just one person or one family because God can use you to make a difference. We would encourage you to cast all of your fears on God and just see what He can do through you and your family! God bless you as you begin to pray and seek out what YOU can do to stand up and fight for those with no voice all around the world!

With Love,
The Schofields
