I Will Not Be Moved!

From sunrise to sunset, the enslaved children of Lake Volta spend their days under the hot Ghanaian sun fishing tirelessly as they attempt to satisfy their masters.

Many of these young children have spent months or even years doing this very job. They are forced to give up their childhood, and in turn,  they must work to survive. This loss of freedom  is exactly what the members of our Find Your  Mark Chapter in Grove, OK hope to preserve.

From Friday May 4th to Saturday May 5th, the Grove Chapter will be holding an “I Will Not Be Moved” fundraiser for the children who have been rescued out of slavery and are now living in Touch A Life’s care. During this event, participants will spend all day and all night in fishing boats, to represent those used on Lake Volta, until they are able to  raise at least $5,000 for the children in Ghana.

Proceeds from this event will go to the construction of Emmanuel’s House. Named after one of Lake Volta’s rescued children, Emmanuel’s House will serve as a children’s home that is being built at the Touch A Life Care  Center.

The event will be held in the Grove Dental Associates parking lot where visitors are encouraged to stop by to learn more about the organization and how to join in the fight against  human trafficking. Remember, every little bit counts, and with your support, we can make strides in ending modern-day slavery on Lake  Volta once and for all.

I would like to explore the fwololing three questions because they all have a fundamental base in understanding the types of circumstances that occur in the trafficking of human beings. Who is most susceptible to being trafficked? What is the social attitude in areas where it is allowed? What happens when people are no longer useful?
