What do you get when you combine countless determined students, generous donors, and dedicated community members from Sparks, NV, all of whom are devoted to eradicating human trafficking? One wildly successful fundraising event. On May 20th, our friends at Reed High School put on a largely successful and valiant fundraising campaign to benefit the Touch A Life Foundation.
After only 38 days of planning, the student-organized Strides for Love event boasted 379 registered participants, plus nearly 200 other supporters and volunteers, who spent their day at the Reed High School track walking/running to raise money for Touch A Life. The event featured a 5K run/walk and a unique “caterpillar race” where teams of five were tied together while they raced one another. At the end of the day, the group raised over $8,000!
In addition to the main event, the students also hosted a silent auction and sold t-shirts to raise money. Their inspiring compassion is nothing short of amazing – they didn’t have much time to plan, yet they were able to hugely impact the children in Touch A Life’s programs.
We would like to thank the students, participants, volunteers, and donors involved in making this event a success. The Reed High School community’s efforts truly helped change the lives of vulnerable and exploited children throughout the world.
