Find Your Mark Chapters around the world help raise awareness for Touch A Life. Their goal is to raise a minimum of $1,800 over the course of 12 months, which covers the annual expenses of one child in TAL’s care.
In March, the Find Your Mark – Eustis, FL Chapter got some fundraising help from a second grade class at Christian Home and Bible School in Mt.Dora, Florida. The two teachers of the class, Mrs. Denita Snider and Mrs.Sue Poyet, and their students decided to hold a reading fundraiser. The FYM – Eustis, FL chapter supports Comfort and Gamale, two children in TAL’s care. The teachers put up pictures of Comfort and Gamale so their students would know exactly who they were helping.
The pictures motivated the students, serving as encouragement for them to read as many books as they possibly could. Before the event started, the class learned about TAL’s work in Ghana and about how their fundraiser would really influence these formerly trafficked children’s lives. Each of the28 students was asked to get a pledge a donation for every book or chapter they read during the month of February. The students read diligently for 28 days so they could raise a lot of money to help support Comfort and Gamale. Over the course of the month, they read more than 800 books and raised a grand total of $1,000 for Touch A Life! The class was so ecstatic about helping that they sent cards to Comfort and Gamale as well. We love hearing about creative events like these and we hope other FYM chapters are inspired by these stories, too! Thank you, FYM – Eustis, FL!
